Nineteen Minutes by Jodie Picoult

Review by Jaime Horwitz

It only takes nineteen minutes for a school shooting to happen.

Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult is about a 17- year old boy, Peter who
commits a terrible crime. Peter is not the most popular guy at Sterling
High. After Peter commits this crime, jail awaits him until his trial.
During his trial, people start realizing that this is reality. Alex
Cormier, the state judge has a daughter Josie got involved and lost
someone very special to her. Alex was going to be the judge for Peter’s
case until Josie had to be a witness. Alex has to decide whether to be
a good judge or be a better mother. Nineteen Minutes compares a little
with real life situations. In Chicago, Illinois, many schools are in
danger. Not that long ago, a kid shot a couple other kids. This book
shows what can happen in real life.

I personally adore this book. It was amazing that the author made this
fiction book to seem so real. The characters in the book are just like
characters in real life. I have never been to a trial before, but Jodi
Picoult lets me see what a real trial is like. While reading this book,
I was imagining it as a movie. This book would make the best movie in
theatres. The theme of this book taught me to enjoy things while I
still have it, because with a snap of fingers they can be gone. If you
liked Nineteen Minutes, you will like all the other books by Jodi
Picoult as well.
