But it isn’t an easy love, with Alex in the Latino bloods and Brittany in a white rich cheerleader status they don’t mix. His dad hopes he gets a scholarship for football.

I think this book was not that good. It didn’t really have much going on in the book. It was kinda boring. I wouldn’t read this again. But if you like soccer you would like this book.

Period 7

In “Soldier Boy” follows a Double story of an American Soldier Spencer “Spence” Morgan and a Nazi soldier Dietrich “Dieter” Hedrick. Both of them join World War 2 for the wrong reasons. Spence enlists to prove to everyone were he comes from in Brigham City, Utah. Dieter joins because as a young boy he was brainwashed by the HJ or Hitler Youth that Hitler was doing the right thing for the world. When Dieter and Spence get their first real taste of the war they find themselves in The Battle of the Bulge fighting each other. In the first part of the battle the Americans go on the offensive and charge at the German forces but have to retreat. During the retreat Spence’s friend Ted Darney is shot and killed. Then when the Germans attack and try to retreat Dieter is wounded and his partner Johann Schaefer is killed.
One aspect I really liked about this book is how you get a view of both sides of the World War 2, because you get to see why both characters join the war. I really liked how Dean Hughes is very detailed when a person in the book is shot or killed. For example when Spence goes into a house were a German MG is firing at his company, and another soldier Erickson runs up the stairs, and is almost torn in half by the bullets from an automatic rifle. I would highly recommend this book to any one who like historical fiction or a great war story.

Her parents soon start to get worried that they are spending too much time together because usually they hang out whenever they can. At the end of there senior year they have to make some changes because college is calling, so its up to you to read the book and figure out what happens.

I really enjoyed reading this book. the characters in this book seemed real with their problems and family. It was an easy read. It was written in the 70s so the language is a little dated. i really recommend this book to whoever likes love stories.

Mr. Argentar

Period 5

I will Plant You a Lilac Tree is a true story about a normal teenage girl who was thrown out of her house, along with her family because they were Jewish. It was taken place around the 1940’s when the Holocaust was occurring. She was selfish and greedy at first bur then realized reality. During her struggles, she met a boy named Dick Hillman. They became best friends and soon lovers. Together, they went through all of the tough times and different concentration camps together. But there was a block in her small happiness. Hannelore haven’t heard from her family in years. If you want to know what happens to her family and Dick you will have to read the book.

One aspect of this book that I liked was how realistic it was. It explained the Holocaust in deep detailing and showed me more about what really happened during the Holocaust. Most books I read gave me detailing that I already knew. And from reading this book from a person who really went through the concentration camps I learned so much more about the Holocaust. I rate this book a 9 out of 10 because of the details and the love story involved in this sad story.

He didn’t do this voluntarily; he got in trouble for assaulting another person. The courts originally were sentencing him to a Juvenile Detention Center but the owner of that barbershop Duke stepped in and convinced the courts to instead of sending Jimmy there to let him work for him at his barbershop. Throughout the whole book Duke shares all his wisdom and know how’s about life and the world to help Jimmy work his way through life. Duke really truly cares for Jimmy and treats him like a son of his own.

One specific aspect of the book I really like was the overwhelming wealth of knowledge that is shared with the reader. Duke is such a wise and smart old man. He is educated as well. For every single different person that went into the barbershop he evaluated the decisions the people have made and help lead Jimmy in the right direction. He can evaluate the people’s decisions because he has known them for so long that they share so many stories with him. He also was just a very caring person that Jimmy and Kevin knew they could talk to anytime they wanted and about anything. He will give them the honest truth about the matter and help them work through their problems because that was the kind of person duke was. If I was grading this book I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10 for all the values it teaches and the overall wealth of knowledge it has.

The truth about forever is about a girl named Macy who lives the idle life. She has the boyfriend that she has had a crush for forever, she gets good grades, and her family is put together. Until one day Macy and her father were out for their usual run in the morning when her father had a heart attack and died right in front of Macy’s eyes. Running was she and her father’s passion, and after her father died she decided to stop. Everything started to go down hill after her father pasted away, her boyfriend Jason goes off to Brain Camp, and puts their relationship on hold and leaves Macy with his job at the front desk of the library. Jason takes his job very seriously and expects Macy to do her absolute best. Macy’s mom also has a party that turns out to be a slight disaster. A catering company, WISH, was hired to bake the food and serve it to the guests. Macy is told to just stand around and if needed, show people where the bathroom was. However, she quickly gets bored and wanders into the kitchen where she meets Delia, a pregnant woman and the owner of the catering business. Macy offers to help her because she already has her hands full with her other little daughter. When Macy steps outside to get napkins, she is startled when a boy named Bert jumps out of the bushes and yells, “GOTCHA!”. He apologizes while helping her pick up all the napkins she had dropped. An older boy, Wes, comes outside to help, and apologizes for his brother, and explained to her that, that was a game that him and Bert liked to play with each other. As the party began to end Delia offers Macy her number to work for the business, but Macy declines the offer remembering that she is working at the library for Jason. Macy’s mother doesn’t necessarily agree with her thinking about changing her job because he mom thinks that Macy is at a perfect job right now (even though Macy completely hates it there.) So later Macy decides to take the job, and starts to get interested in Wes. She thinks about him a lot, but hates the fact that Jason is still kind of her boyfriend. So, she ignores her feelings. But soon, she and Wes begin to get to know each other better and she begins to grow to like him even more. They play a game called “Truth” where they reveal deep secrets to each other. Macy spills out everything and Wes just listens. Macy took the job at the catering business without her mother knowing. After her mom starts seeing a different behavior from Macy, she bans her from seeing her new friends. And now the summer is ending and Jason told her he was thinking about maybe getting back together with each other. Does Macy go back to her old “perfect” life, or continues it the way it was?

This book is about a kid named Steven Thomas. He is a kid that loves basketball. Steven had entered a writing contest and he is now in New Orleans. It is the biggest weekend for college sports. He has won a pass to the final four, but he isn’t alone. One of his fellow classmates have won one of the passes to watch the final four and her name is Susan Carol. Susan and Steven were just walking around to see how far there passes can take them, but then they passed by there saw MSU’s point guard. They went to see him but someone was with them and all they heard was “You better lose this game or else.” The point guard was getting blackmailed. They have only two days to find out who was the man/women that is black mailing the MSU star point guard.

I think that this book was an okay book. I think that because it wasn’t my type of book. This book for people that like mysteries, basketball and the final four.

Argentar- Period 5

At Hawthorn High, Charlotte Usher seeks desperately for popularity. It is her final year and her main goals are getting people to notice her and Damen asking her to the Fall Ball. Just by the point where she is getting noticed and her biggest crush talked to her for first time, she dies. Now she feels even more inconspicuous because people would never remember her. But at the same time, she can spend more time with Damen. She follows him everywhere he goes until he goes to Petula’s house. She never liked her only because she was going out with Damen and she is the most popular person in the school. But while she is at her house, Petula’s sister, Scarlett, can see her. She gets freaked out as first, but she gets use to her. But with Charlotte, Scarlett’s a big help to her. Charlotte needs Scarletts body in order to help Damen with physics or else he would fail and can’t be able to ask out Charlotte, or Scarlett, to the Ball. With her, she can be able to be in more touch with the living. But while this is going on, she has to go to a class that’s for dead people in Hawthorn High. But she is to busy helping Damen and being with Scarlet, that her own class feels that their never going to graduate with her. In order for them to graduate, they need to save an old house from being destroyed and they need her. With this problem and Damen, she doesn’t know if she is going to make it to the Fall Ball in time.
