Colan- Period 1

Heiress For Hire is about a 23 year old spoiled rich girl named Amanda Delmar. Her father feels she needs to work for her money instead of living off of his, so he cuts her off and sends her to a remote, town called Cuttersville. While there Amanda’s father buys her an apartment to stay in but the rest is up to her to work out. While in Cuttersville, Amanda finds a job as a nanny for a little girl named Piper, and the father isn’t too bad either. While Amanda is supposed to be taking care of Piper, throughout the story she’s really taking care of her love life. Danny and Amanda have some good times together and like each other in a way that is just too friendly for either of them to handle.

I was not surprised at all with the way the book ended up because I thought they should be together throughout the book. The twists that come along in the book did really surprise me though. I wanted to read more every chapter to find out if Danny and Amanda would end up together. Them wanting to be together, but thinking they couldn’t was silly to me because they are perfectly capable of being together, I just don’t think they knew how.

The Shining by Stephen King is an intense thriller that will have you wanting more. It takes place at a hotel called the Over Look in Colorado.

During the winter the Over Look is completely cut off from the rest of the world because of the heavy snow fall that blocks the roads that lead to it. But such a large and expensive hotel needs to be kept clean and safe, so the owners higher a family to watch over the place all winter long. A family of three take the job without knowing what had happened there over the years, but The child of the family starts to become concerned when he starts to have horrible visions warning him that “this inhuman place makes human monsters”.

I prefer this book to any one who loves horror, action and ,excitement

Mrs.Colan period 4th

This book Speak is about a girl name, Melinda who went to a end-of-summer party with a friend. At the party, Melinda had called the cops, but no one really knows why she had called the cops. She had entered Merryweather High, where no one really likes her because she called the cops. So she doesn’t talk that much and has no friends at school either. She is failing most of her classes and her social life except art. But there is a reason why Melinda had called the cops, she does not tell anyone for a reason. A reason that will come out of her own mouth later in the story.

This book is a exciting book because it shows how Melinda gets out of the problems that she gets in. It is a really good book because you can’t let go of this book since it is so exciting. I will rate this book five out of five because of its drama and excitement.

During the book “Dork In Disguise” Jerry a nerd some may call him, is moving way from his home and going to a different school. He wants to start over and change; change his wardrobe, and mostly EVERYTHING. At his new school he meets a girl that he thinks is perfect, but here is one problem! She is one of the girls in the school that’s in the popular group, so he has to go in disguise and try to be friends with her.

Once you read this book you will have enjoyed it. This fictional book is funny, amuzing, and interesting. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 because the book tells you, you do not have to be someone your not just to fit in with other kids. You should be yourself. I would recremend this book to 5-9th graders.

Can one man change the world of music? Can one man be know by everyone in the world? Can one Man inspire music to the whole world? That man could be John Lennon.

“Revolution, The story of John Lennon talks about the history of John Lennon and the Beatles. It talks about the struggles he goes through as a child and as a teen and how he overcame his struggles by being one of the most famous musicians in the world. It talks about how John ended up marrying Yoko Ono, how the Beatles broke up, why Mark David Chapman decided to murder John Lennon. If you love music, and the Beatles, then i highly recommend you read Revolution The story of John Lennon.

Colan – Period 2

The book I read Twilight by Stephinie Meyer is about a normal girl Isabella or Bella for short. When she moves to a small town named Forks, Washington. when she first gets there she just wants to go home because she is being forced to go. At her first day of school she meets a boy named Edward Cullen And Edward has a secret, that no ones knows but Bella will find out. You maybe asking yourself what is his secret? Well to find his secret you must first red the book. As the story goes on Bella and Edward become closer and closer, until they encounter another person that does not like the idea of Bella being around Edward so much because she is not like them. James is who they encounter; and trust me he isn’t a nice person. Isabella is captured and held against her will until Edward will come to her rescue. The question is will Edward come to her rescue? Or will he change his mind.

If I were to rate it i would give it a 10 out of 10 stars. This was a wonderful book, but the build up is very slow but trust me if you continue to read you will be thankful that you did. At many times its frightful and you want to put it down. If you do put it down you will regret it because it is full of twist and turns on every page. This book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Colan period 2

The main conflict in the book is about a girl trying to get over the fact that she is dead. The main character Liz dies in a car crash, but then she was sent to a place called Elsewhere. Elsewhere is like a state but everyone is dead. Not the dead that you would think because they move around, live, eat, just like regular people. In Elsewhere Liz finds her grandma that died about 13 years ago. Liz is so upset when she dies that she almost goes into depression. She goes to the ODs (observation deck) everyday. The ODs allow people in Elsewhere to see what is happening on earth.

In this book there is one part that i find really weird but interesting to. There is this crazy thing that instead of getting older you get younger. Once you hit 6 months you get sent to the river. The river opens up and it has this huge hold. The hole is like a water slide, and sends the babies back to earth. Once they get to earth they are born anew. Liz is very upset on Elsewhere so she tries to be sent back early. Will she do it?

But the big question is will Nick ever get another chance to play hockey again? The people who affect Nicky Tag are his girlfriend Devin, his family, his team, and his best friend Griff. Nick starts to realize that hockey is his life and that without hockey his life is worthless. In this passage it paints a vivid picture in the reader’s mind of what it is like to step out on the ice. This book teaches that you never know when everything will be taken away. If you think this book is only for people who like “hockey” you’re wrong. This book has little hockey caught up in all the drama. Hockey is just the background of the main characters life. I think that in some way everyone can relate to Nick in some way. This book is for guys because it has the thrilling action of sports. But then it is for girls because it has school gossip and popularity. I would rate this book 10 out of 10.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is about four best friends, Carmen, Tibby, Lena, and Bridget. These 4 four girls hung out every summer…until this summer. Carmen, Bridget, and Lena would be going on vacation to visit family or go to camp somewhere this summer while Tibby would be staying home. Before everyone left, the girls found a pair of jeans that happened to fit all four of them, no matter what size jeans they wore. The girls took that as a sign that meant that they needed to communicate with each other all summer in some way. Everyone decided that each one of them would wear the pants for at least two weeks, then pass on the pants to the next person the their list. The girls also set some rules on what to do, and what not to do while wearing these magical pants. So…will the girls follow the rules? Will someone hog the pants all summer? And what is Tibby going to do since she is staying home all summer? You will find answers to all of these questions when you read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

I would recommend this book to mostly girls, who like to read about friendship, trust and love. That’s mainly what this book is about. There are a lot of adventures in this book also, even for Tibby, who is staying home all summer…so if you want a nice, interesting, and fun book…check out The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
