Review by Gaby

The Midnight Twins by Jacquelyn Mitchard is about two twin sisters named Mally and Merry. Merry got born at 11:59 before New Years Day. Mally got born at 12:01 on New Years Day. Mally can see the future and Merry can see the past. They also can talk to each other in their minds. One day, their aunt Gwenny, finds out they have powers. Gwenny tries to kill them because when you kill someone with powers, you receive those powers.

An appealing part of the book was when Mally and Merry were in their kitchen making dinner and doing homework. All of a sudden, there is a fire on the tile floor and it made the shape of a moon and a sun which represents Mally and Merry. The fire got larger and the two sisters ran out of the house. In the next few minutes, every object, every memory, and the entire house was ashes. This chapter painted a terrible picture in my mind, so it made it interesting to think about it.

Review by Jeremy

The book, Cut by Patricia McCormick, was a great fiction novel. Cut is a book with its own suspense, or mystery. The main character, Callie, has a problem that gives her pleasure. She likes to cut herself. This isn’t a problem that will go away, so Callie is sent to a treatment center called Sea Pines. Sea Pines is supposed to help Callie stop cutting herself, but she can’t help it. Along with the mystery, this book also carries along a dramatic story. This conflict with Callie makes you want to read the rest of the book, and see what will happen next. Will this problem, that’s actually eating her, be resolved at Sea Pines? Will her friends at Sea Pines help her through this?

I got really drawn in to the book because of the drama. I usually don’t like books with drama involved with love, but this was a different kind of drama. This was a situation with whether or not her friends would help her or not. This was a situation where she needed the help, but wouldn’t accept it. I think the dramatic part of the story drew me in.

Review by Ashley

In this fiction story, this book shows how a wolf girl falls in love with a human. Vivian, the wolf, is falling for a “meat boy”. Vivian is part of a pack that are usually unseperatable. When her pack finds out about her dating a non-wolf this leads to a large conflict. Annette Curtis Klause, the author, shows the temptation of Vivian wanting to tell Aiden of who she really is. When Vivian tells who she really is, Aiden was in shock. Aiden ignored her. Vivian’s pack found out that she told him which turned in a huge problem. Since Aiden knows about her being a wolf, everyone is terrified that he will spill the truth. There was a killer in town that no one knew about. If Aiden told the public, they’d blame it on Vivian and her pack. Vivian and her pack try to find Aiden for days to talk to him. He wasn’t found. This led to a conflict which turns the big upside down.

One aspect in “Blood and Chocolate” is when Vivian tells Aiden about her being a wolf. Aiden was expecting a surprise but that wasn’t what he expected. Aiden watched Vivian transform slowly into a wolf. He hid in the corner of his bed terrified and shocked. Vivian thought he would be happy knowing the real her, but she was wrong. In the book it describes the whole scene in detail which drew me into the book.

Review By Rebecca

In this fantastic novel New Moon there is a girl named Bella who is in love with the vampire named Edward. When Edward leaves Bella, she becomes very depressed because she was so in love with him. Eventually Bella gets over the fact that Edward is no longer with her, and starts to hang out with her old friend Jacob. When Bella does the stupidest thing Alice, one of Edward’s siblings who is a mind reader sees that she’s going to get hurt she comes to save Bella and then she is informed that Edward is in trouble and they need to go and save him from the Volturi- people who are trying to kill him. And try to save him.

One aspect in the book that was very appealing is when Bella and Jacob start to hang out again. This is a very good part in the book because when Bella is upset jacob knows how to cheer her up, and that is something a good friend does; When Bella and Edward were still together, Edward would never know what to do so he would either leave or attempt to cheer her up.

Review by Roman A

The main conflict of this book is when Alex finds out that his mom had participated in an experiment that involved Dr. Wyatt a millionaire scientist that worked with trans-genetics. This experiment involved getting a healthy child for Alex’s mother which has huntington’s disease which has no cure, she was at an early stage so she found Wyatt to try and experiment on her and Wyatt agreed under one condition that he can use the rest of the DNA not used when the healthy child was born. After the healthy child Alex was born, the rest of the children were then created by Wyatt as test subjects that would be different from the child that was born. Then after finding out the truth Alex try’s to find out where the other test subjects are.

One specific aspect of the book that makes it seem appealing is the fact of how Alex tends to try to find out the dark secret his dad held from him the whole time and how he goes throughout his senior high-school life. Alex is a bright kid, but he also doesn’t know how to find out the truth and he is also fighting the fact that he may have HD (Huntington’s disease). So he goes through out the whole time finding more and more information linked to his mother and Dr. Wyatt. This one aspect was what kept me reading this book throughout all the chapters.

Review by Ryan L

The main conflict of this book is when Steel finds a briefcase that has a picture of a woman tied up. He tries to find the man who has the briefcase. Steel is dealing with some bad feelings because his dad could not come with him and his mom to Washington D.C. for the National Science Challenge. He thinks his dad is having a tough time at work, but really his dad is working with the F.B.I. Steel learns how to use his memory too his full capacity and value his friends and family.

One specific aspect of this book is when Steel is being chased by somebody up a flight of stairs and Steel turned a corner and attacked the victim. He realized it was his dad who he kicked. Steel ran immediately to his father and helped him. Steel noticed then that his dad worked for the F.B.I. Steel and his father go through some tough experiences when they work together. Can there courage be enough to stop the enemy?

Review by Caitlyn S-S

In the book, The Thief Lord, there are two major conflicts. The first major conflict is between the Hartliebs and their nieces Prosper and Bo. Prosper and Bo’s mother just died and they need a family to live with. Easter Hartlieb is their mothers sister and they (her and her husband) going to take care of Prosper and Bo but they intend to split them up. They want to keep Bo who is 5 but intend to put Prosper who is 12 in military school. Prosper and Bo are inseparable so they plan to run away to Venice together. he Hartliebs follow them and do anything necessary to capture them which includes hiring a detective. The second major conflict is between Scipio and his “gang”. Scipio goes by the name “the thief lord” and looks after run away orphans (including Prosper and Bo). Scipio isn’t who the orphan think he is. Instead of being a great thief and steeling things from home for them to make money, he is a normal rich boy. The orphans (Riccio, Mosca, Hornet, Bo and Prosper) get mad at him for lying to him and have repeated conflicts with him throughout the book.

One specific aspect that I liked in the book is that it keeps you reading. It grabs you so that you cannot put the book down. It is very tense in some moments and makes you want to keep reading. Most of is it exciting and entertaining to read which makes me enjoy it. This book grabs my attention and makes me wanting to know more and more about the mysterious Thief Lord.

The book 10 Things to do Before I Die is about a boy named Ted Burger who has his friends Mark and Nikki who make a list for Ted to do. His friends think it would be fun to make a list of crazy things for him to do. But when he finds out he is going to actually die, he starts to do everything he can on the list. He is poisoned by the cook that was fired at the Circle Eat where him and his friends go to eat almost everyday. The cook had been fired and wanted to get back at them somehow. Ted’s friends do everything in their power to help him complete the list before he dies.

The part that is most important is when Ted is working on the list. The things on the list are stuff that normal people would never do. He realizes he could die at any given moment and wants to spend his last minutes on Earth doing outrageous things like robbing a bank. It’s interesting because it gets the reader thinking too. It makes you feel like your in the book. When i picked up this book it was really hard to put it down. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes reading.

The book On the Brightside Im a Girlfriend of a sex God is about a girl named Georgia Nicilson. She lives in a town in London. At the end of the first book her dream guy named Robbie asked her out. Now in the second book she is dating him and she thinks its going well. Later on, he sends her a letter breaking up with her, but he says that she should go out with his younger brother’s friend Dave the laugh. She is going out with Dave to make Robbie jealous, but Dave really likes her. That makes her feel really bad.

I thought this book was very funny and addicting. It is a quick read and you never want to put it down. It is also very easy to read and you can relate to the charaters in many ways. Almost any girl would like this book. It is the secound book in a series.

The main conflict is how the androids gets angry at the humans. the reason they get angry at the humans is because they band them from earth. they were sent to mars, but some of them sneaked in. the reason they stayed is because they look exactly like a normal human, so they have bounty hunters to kill the androids on earth. there is one bounty hunter who is having difficulty finding a certain group, and this would be his biggest android case he has ever had.

one spesific aspect is how nexus-6 keeps escaping. the bounty hunter Rick Decard tries to find them but he fails to cacth the andriods. the reason they want nexus-6 is becasue they are becoming more and more dangerouse. they cannot tell if anyone or anything is part of that group but even if they are not a nexus-6 they still kill any android.
