Wise 7

In the book “Jason and Marceline” by Jerry Spinelli, it is about two friends (Jason and Marceline) that have been friends since the end of seventh grade. Now Marceline and Jason are in 9th grade and Jason is thinking about making his friendship with Marceline more than just a friendship but a relationship. Marceline is starting to think so to. Jason talks to his friend Peter about asking Marceline out and peter thinks he should. But others think it is weird since Marceline plays the trombone and is in band, while Jason is a jock and plays baseball and was on the wrestling team. But Jason thinks other wise, he likes Marceline for who she is not for what she does so he asks her out anyway. So days go by and everything is going great. They play scrabble every night because that is their favorite game. Two weeks go passed and the more they are together the more they get annoyed by each other and the more they fight. But does the beginning of romance mean the end of their friendship?

I recommend this book to mature children or teenagers because they talk about sexual things those younger kids would not understand. I would also recommend this book for people who like to read about drama in high school. This book is great for an 8th grader to read because it basically talks about what high school is about in some good ways and bad ways but in reading this book it will teach the kids not to do the bad things that it teaches you but also do they good things and have fun.

Nobody knew where Cass was. The police was immediately on the case. It was so weird that right After David Kirby commit suicide, Cass went missing. No one knew that someone was seeking revenge on Cass for something she didn’t do.

What Happened to Cass McBride was a thrilling story. You do know who kidnaps her and why but the reason why the criminal did it was not why you think. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys not a mystery but a suspenseful story that doesn’t reveal its answers until the very tail end.

Wise period7

East is about a young girl named Rose. She lives on a farm with her parents and five older brothers and sisters. She loves to sew for her self and family, but it also keeps her mind off of her sister who is very ill and her family is in a bad place because they aren’t bringing in enough money to support the whole family and pay for the bills. But a visitor tells the family that he can change all of this. If Rose comes to live with the visitor, a white talking bear, all the families misfortunes will be gone and Rose’s sister will be well again. Will Rose go with the white bear? Before Rose makes her decision her mom tells her that instead of being an East born Rose is really a North born. This is important because her mother is really superstitious and believes that a North born only bring trouble. All of Rose’s life she has been lied to. What will Rose do? Read the book to find out!

I thought the book was really good. It does get a little confusing because the way the book is written is from most of the characters point of view. But, you get used to it and one you do you’ll realize that the book is really good. I recommend this book for anyone that likes adventure stories. All around it’s a good book that anyone can read.

Mr Wise – period 7

The book I read was Kira – Kira by Cynthia Kadohata. It is about a young girl named Katie Takeshima and her family. Her older sister, Lynn, is the one who teaches her everything. To Katie, Lynn is perfect in every way. As their Japanese family struggles in a white community, Lynn gets very sick. Katie remembers the first thing Lynn had taught her, the word kira kira. It means glittering and shining. Katie and her family try to get through the hardship. Her parents told her that hitting was the worst thing u can do. Stealing would be the second, and lying the third. Katie would have committed all three things.

The book Hello America is the last book in Livias Holocaust series. In this book Ellie has escaped from the scary world of the Holocaust and on to the land of the free, America. Ellie has been through a lot in the time spent that she wrote this book. Ellie was one of the few children that survived the Holocaust. Her time in Auschwitz was horrifying. Finally she is on her way to her family and her brother Bubi who is her 16 year old brother who also survived the Holocaust. In this book Ellie is adjusting to America. She is trying new American foods, traditions, holidays, culture, and the language. She applies for a couple of jobs to get her used to her surroundings. She grows tremendously throughout the book with great confidence that she will do well.

I thought this book was a great ending to her two previous novels. Reading the first book ” I Have Lived a Thousand Years” makes you realize how horrifying and terrible this event in history really was, especially from a child’s point of view. When you read her books you feel as if you are in her shoes actually experiencing these things. When I was reading i could visualize whatever was on the page in my mind. This book is defiantly a good read.

Wise-Period 2

“Dreamland” by Sarah Dessen is about a young girl by the name of Caitlin. She was the complete opposite of her older sister Cass. Cass was the perfect child. She was on many school clubs and other activities as well. One day Cass ran away. It was up to Caitlin to follow in her footsteps. She ended up joining the cheerleading squad at school. She was in the “in” crowd. She meets this boy Rogerson at a party and feels she is falling for him. He is a drug dealer and isn’t the safest of people to be around. She becomes very attached to him until something goes terribly wrong. Caitlin needs to put herself first this time. She needs to save herself.

I really enjoyed the book “Dreamland” by Sarah Dessen. It’s not like most books i read. The book is based on a teenage girl falling into the typical trap of fitting in. I picked up a very important message from reading this novel. It taught me to not be afraid of who I am. I should be proud of who I am. Don’t ever be someone you’re not just to fit in. It’s a life long message that will help you along the way in years to come. I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and drama. It would be great for teenagers to read this because Caitlin is one and it is easy to relate to her situation.

The book, “Things Not Seen,” is about a fifteen year old boy who is invisible. The boy’s name is Bobby Phillips. When Bobby wakes up in the morning, he goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror. He knows he’s there but he can’t see anything. Thats when he realizes that he is invisible. At first when he tells his parents that he is invisible, they didn’t believe him. They finally realize that he really is invisible when he starts to eat but he is not there. Obviously, Bobby can’t go to school or tell anyone about being invisible. He meets this girl, Alicia, who is blind. Later on, Bobby doesn’t want to be invisible anymore. Does he become himself again? Well, read this book and find out.

I recommend this book to anyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or a guy. Anyone can read this book. “Things Not Seen” was a good book, I thought. When I read the first page of the book, it caught my attention right away. So, if you are looking for a good book to read, read “Thing Not Seen” by Andrew Clements.

Wise period 2

In this autobiography Eric Clapton tells the story of his remarkable life. Clapton grew up in Ripley, Surrey in England as child. He got his first guitar at a the age of seven and taught himself how to play the intrument by listening to recordings of his early influences like Buddy Holly. During the 60’s he was in many different bands including Cream and Yardbirds, where he made countless hits. In the 70’s he had a very tough time of his life where he was addicted to heroine and then alcohol. He eventually overcame this addictions and continued his legendary career.

Eric Clapton captured every part of his life amazingly. There was not part in the book that I was bored with. It is one of those books that once you open it up you can’t put it down. Clapton is a true hero and legend and I recommend this book to any classic rock fan or any music fan because his music has influenced many current artists and young musicians .
