review by: Emily h

The book Elsewhere is about the main character Liz, who dies. The story starts by Liz waking up in a strange place in unfamiliar clothes and she lost all her hair. Liz saw someone else in this room with her on the upper bunk bed. Liz wakes this girl up and she doesn’t know where they are either. the girl says that her name is Thandi. Liz thinks that this is all a dream. Liz wants to know what time and day it is so Liz and Thandi leave the room they were in and they notice that they are on a ship. The girls cant find anything that tells them the time and the day. Liz got hungry so they went to the buffet to get food. When Liz and Thandi were eating Liz saw her favorite singer Curtis Jest from the band Machine. Liz definitely thinks that she is in a dream. When the girls go back to the room Liz got a letter telling her to go to the observation deck, at the O.D. Liz realizes that she is dead. The boat gets to Elsewhere where she will live and she makes some crazy decisions there and she also makes one that she might or might not be able to fix.

Elsewhere is a good book I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to read it. At first I didn’t even want to read a book about someone who died. But i am happy I read it, It was interesting and suspenseful. I really liked Elsewhere. If you start the book, it will get better.

Gunslinger by Stephen King is about Roland the gunslinger tracking down the man in black to find out where the dark tower along the he meets a little boy who has gone back in time. He was hit by a car when crossing the street in New York. Through out the book Roland tells Jake about his path to becoming a gunslinger and how he is the last one of his kind.

I thought the book was very good. It had lots of action and suspense. I would recommend it to anyone who has read a Stephen King. I look forward to reading the rest of the Dark Tower series and finding out the ending.

Review by Nick C

In my book Son of the Mob by Gordon Korman the main conflict of the book was that Vince’s father is the head of the mafia business and it effects Vince’s life in countless ways. The biggest Way it affects his life is his love life, for example when he was on a date it was getting a little chilly outside, so his date asked to get a blanket. Well, that blanket was wrapped around a dead body. Also, his love of his life is the daughter of the FBI agent who is trying to put Vince’s father in jail. Just because of his last name, Luca, his love life i bogus.

I would definitely recommend this book because it is exciting and unexpected. There are a lot of parts in the book where Vince is faced with an unbelievable task. Like on Vince’s and Kendra’s first date one of Vinces fathers fiend ran up to him and begged Vince for his help. That will be a main part in the story later on. Read the book Son of the Mob and you will find out what I mean.

reviewed by Giovanni S

My book is about Josh Hamilton a great baseball player that could make it to the pros if he stays on track and doesn’t get into trouble. Josh is doing great working his way up to the pros, until one day he decides he wants to get a tattoo. He tells everyone he is only going to get one tattoo. Unfortunately Josh gets one tattoo and one ends up leading to twenty-six tattoos. Josh becomes addicted to the feeling of the needle shooting through his skin. Josh covers his whole body with tattoos. He finds himself going to the tattoo parlor everyday, to either get other tattoos touched up or to start a new one. Josh becomes friends with the guys at the tattoo parlor after all of his visits thats not a shock. One night close to closing at the tattoo shop the guys from the tattoo parlor ask Josh if he wants to do something after closing. Their first stop was a bar. Where the guys and Josh got hammered. After the club they went back to one of the guys houses. Where they introduced Josh to cocaine for the first time in his life. Thats the first main conflict of the story. Josh was on his way to the pros until he made one wrong mistake, which was saying he could hang out to the guys from the tattoo parlor.

My book is very appealing to me for many different reasons. I like the story line. The story line caught my eye when I first saw the book. I wanted to hear how Josh got back on track after his horrible crash, when he got mixed up with two heavy kinds of drugs. Josh’s drug choice at first was cocaine, about two years into using cocaine, Josh was introduced to crack, which he also became an addicted to. As you can see Josh really veered off his track of success to the pros. Josh got mixed up with a the guys from the tattoo shop, and they got Josh mixed up with cocaine, and that was the start of Josh’s drug use.

My book A Long Way Gone is about a boy named Ishmael Beah who lives in Sierra Leone. At the age of thirteen Ishemael was picked up by the goverment army to fight the rebels. During his time in the army he found he was capable of commiting terrible acts. And after the age of 16 he was removed from fighting by the UNICEF. After he was taken from the war he was rehibilitated and began to forgive himself and began to heal from all the war memories.

While Ishmael was in the rehab center he was taught that the war was not the way to go. He got rehabilitated and was choesen to tell his stories of war to the UN. He was one of two elected to go to the UN in NYC to tell of his war stories. His venture to NYC widened his horizen of what life in a normal place can be.
