I think this book will be good for people who like adventure, and like when there are a lot of flash backs. Personally i don’t like flashbacks at all and this book is filled with flashbacks.

I read the book The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. This story was set in South Carolina in the 1960s, was racism was brutal. Lily Owens lived with her father, T.Ray on a peach farm. Her mother died when she was a little girl, and Lily had few memories of her; gloves, a picture of her, and a picture of a black Mary with the words “Tiburon, South Carolina” written on the back. Because of her mother’s death, T. Ray hired a maid, Rosaleen, who is the only one who truly cared for Lily. One day when Rosaleen and Lily go out into the town together, the biggest racists in town stop and act rude to them. They get in a fight, and Rosaleen gets beaten. Lily knows she needs to break Rosaleen out of the hospital she’s in for her injuries and go to Tiburon, South Carolina to find out any information possible about her mother, and to get away from T.Ray. While they reach the town of Tiburon, they stop into a store to get food. Lily finds a picture of the same black Mary that she has gotten from her mother. The black Mary is on a honey jar that reads “Black Madonna Honey” on it. She asks where the honey comes from and her and Rosaleen find the honey maker’s house. Their names are August, June, and May Boatwright. Lily and Rosaleen lie about their lives, and live and work for them. She helps August and Zack with the honey. Zack also works for Lily too. Everything was great until tragic things started to kick in. Read this book to find out what happens to Lily, Rosaleen, Zack, T.Ray, and the Boatwright girls.

I would rate this book a 9 out of 10. I thought it was really good and I liked the story, but some things could have been speeded up a bit. My favorite character is Lily Owens, because she is adventurous and helping to others. She is a round character because she matures and changes constantly throughout the book. August is a round-flat character because her personality and thoughts don’t change, but she changes a couple things because of the tragic things that have happened all at once. June is a round character because her personality changes a lot. She used to not be open to meeting any other people, but know she seems fine. May is a flat character. She still acts strangely and barely changes. Rosaleen and Zack are also round flat, just like August. Their personalities and likes and dislikes changes throughout the story. The theme of this story I would say is hope and strength. It is hope because the characters need hope and strength to get through the hard times.

Wise period7

East is about a young girl named Rose. She lives on a farm with her parents and five older brothers and sisters. She loves to sew for her self and family, but it also keeps her mind off of her sister who is very ill and her family is in a bad place because they aren’t bringing in enough money to support the whole family and pay for the bills. But a visitor tells the family that he can change all of this. If Rose comes to live with the visitor, a white talking bear, all the families misfortunes will be gone and Rose’s sister will be well again. Will Rose go with the white bear? Before Rose makes her decision her mom tells her that instead of being an East born Rose is really a North born. This is important because her mother is really superstitious and believes that a North born only bring trouble. All of Rose’s life she has been lied to. What will Rose do? Read the book to find out!

I thought the book was really good. It does get a little confusing because the way the book is written is from most of the characters point of view. But, you get used to it and one you do you’ll realize that the book is really good. I recommend this book for anyone that likes adventure stories. All around it’s a good book that anyone can read.

Wise P.2

The main conflict of this book is to try and figure out the reason that so many people just all of the sudden disappeared out of no where. Then the people that are “left behind” have to figure out why they are still alive and the others are dead or in this case in heaven. So the people left turn to religion, and they come to figure out why they are still on earth. But while they are figuring it out strange events happen and events and people that are in the bible become real or predicted at the exact time as said in the bible.

One specific aspect in the book that i liked was the plot of the book and what the book is about because i read this book and saw the movie on this when i had to take a religion class. But a specific part of the book is the beginning of the book when everyone disappears. I like this part because i feel that it is a good attention grabber and makes the person reading it want to continue and not just stop reading the book. Even though the first time i read this i was forced to I turned out to be really interested in the book and the movie.

In the book Brisingr Eragon is tested against his limits. He is making dangerous oaths to people he shouldn’t. He makes an oath to his cousin Roran that he would help save Roran’s beloved Katrina. During the time that Eragon is helping Katrina he discover someone that has betrayed the town of Carvahall and punishes him. (he finds Katrinas dad and he makes it so he can never see Katrina ever again and sent him to wonder to the elves). When Eragon returns to the varden he is looking for a new sword because Murtagh stole the sword he once had. Later in the book Eragon is sent into battle, but as he is sent into battle he gets a vision of the other person he is connected to. This vision shows that person dying.

One aspect of this book that I find appealing is how Eragon is making all these oaths to many different people and expects to live a free life. It also makes me wonder why he would put himself into that kind of position.

In the book, Maximum Ride School’s Out-Forever, by James Patterson, there are six kids who have been genetically mutated by evil scientists. Their names are Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, Angel, Fang, and Max. Max is a round character because at the beginning of the book she doesn’t depend on anyone, but throughout the book she learns how to use all of her flock’s special abilities to their fullest. Each one of them has wings and increased strength, speed, endurance, and appetite. They have just escaped a laboratory in New York and are flying to Washington D.C. On their way, they encounter a new type of eraser. As they fight in the air against the erasers, Fang gets slashed across the stomach by their worst enemy, Air, whom they all thought Max had killed. After Fang gets hurt in the fight, the group goes to the hospital. While there, the FBI finds out about them and they have to live with an agent. Going to school is again forced on them. That’s where things start to get weird.

For example when the real max is fighting the fake Max you don’t know who is going to win because they are exactly the same. But in the end the author always made so it was a happy ending. And the author does this over and over in the book. He still mess’s with you by changing when something good will happen though.

Mr.Lockowitz Period 8th

The book I read was Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles and the main conflict in the book involves two teens named Caleb Becker who spent the last year in juvenile detention center and Maggie Armstrong spent the last year in hospitals and physical therapy and both never expect what happens next in their life’s. If they think that fight is over in their life’s they have another thing coming because their greatest challenge is going to have to see the person that changed/destroyed your life forever. “What happens when he person that hurt you the most becomes the person you trust the most”? The thing that caught my attention is that when something happens to you that changes your life and it’s a person you trust you always think that they did it on purpose, you’ll never trust them again like you did before because your image of them is now very different. In the book that didn’t happen instead something interesting happen and if you want to know what happen read the book.

People just started getting petrified when they are by their selves at nighttime. The creature wrote some message on the wall with red paint or something red slimy stuff. Harry tries to find where this thing is and goes there to defeat the monster. He finds the monster looks up, the thing is at least 5 feet really long and the creature and him fight.

He appears as some figure that tries to kill Harry. Harry fights and finds a sword and destroys the creature, but Voldemort is still alive. They put up a good fight, with Harry all bloody and hurt pretty badly something happens. A giant bird comes in, but what does the bird do?

Wise Period 2

Imagine, being stuck in a small town super market with 35 people and enough food to last a year; but your life could be brutally cut short by ungodly Destruction. Well that’s David and his son Billy situation. David is thinking of a way to escape or survive; through this horrific disaster. But as things get worse in the mist engulfed store; and people are resorting to human sacrifice for any chance a survival. David and his friend Ollie try to think of a way to escape with the very few sane or alive people left. But is is this plan going to work, maybe, or maybe not.

This is probably the most suspenseful story I have every read in my life. Because with an author like Stephen King things don’t always work out for the best. Also this book was very well written with good language and punctuation. It was so descriptive it made you want to read the book wht the lights on. Or make you not want to look up in fear that there might be something in the corner of your eye; stalking you and waiting to ponce when you least expect it.
