Wise 7

In the book “Jason and Marceline” by Jerry Spinelli, it is about two friends (Jason and Marceline) that have been friends since the end of seventh grade. Now Marceline and Jason are in 9th grade and Jason is thinking about making his friendship with Marceline more than just a friendship but a relationship. Marceline is starting to think so to. Jason talks to his friend Peter about asking Marceline out and peter thinks he should. But others think it is weird since Marceline plays the trombone and is in band, while Jason is a jock and plays baseball and was on the wrestling team. But Jason thinks other wise, he likes Marceline for who she is not for what she does so he asks her out anyway. So days go by and everything is going great. They play scrabble every night because that is their favorite game. Two weeks go passed and the more they are together the more they get annoyed by each other and the more they fight. But does the beginning of romance mean the end of their friendship?

I recommend this book to mature children or teenagers because they talk about sexual things those younger kids would not understand. I would also recommend this book for people who like to read about drama in high school. This book is great for an 8th grader to read because it basically talks about what high school is about in some good ways and bad ways but in reading this book it will teach the kids not to do the bad things that it teaches you but also do they good things and have fun.

“A nasty, guilty pleasure. The book has the effect of gossip itself-once you enter, it’s hard to extract yourself.”-publishers weekly. In the book “Gossip Girl” by Cecily Von Ziegesar, it is about how young teenaged kids learn to live in the adult world and take care of themselves through out drama. Blair Waldorf is the head leader of her school since Serena left. She is the most popular girl in school and will do anything to be and stay the most popular girl in her school, even though she has to lie and stab her friends in the back. Her boyfriend is Nate Archibald who attends an all boy school right down the street from where Blair goes. Blair goes to an all girl school as well. Nate is the most handsome guy in the Upper East. He is popular and athletic but he also has a major problem which a lot of guys suffer through in there teenaged years: he has a drug addiction. Even though he is addicted to drugs, all of the girls still like him. Blair thinks that she and Nate will be together forever like in Cinderella, but her dreams crash down piece by piece. Her dreams get crushed down by her ex-best friend Serena van der Woodsen .Serena returned from her Connecticut boarding school. Serena and Blair used to be best friends till she left Blair all alone at Constance Billard School. Blair was devastated but yet she was happy that Serena was gone because now that Serena was gone Blair took all the power. Blair was very jealous of Serena when she attended Constance Billard. Serena was the blond, beautiful, and charming girl that could steal the heart of anyone’s boyfriend instantly. Blair didn’t know that Serena has been talking and hanging out with Nate, but if she did know about that than it would be a whole different ball game. But Serena and Nate had a secret, one that could rip Blair into pieces. If you want to know the secret that Serena and Nate hide from Blair than just pick this book up and start reading.

After reading this book, I realized how being tied into drama isnt that fun. I realized that girls go through with this everyday and nothing is done to stop this. I realized that sometimes you aren’t the only girl that goes through this but others suffer as well.If you like top drama and gossip about girls than this is the right book for you. Personally I recommend this book to girls because I don’t think that a guy would like to read about gossip and about how girls go through there lives struggling over what to wear and how they look. This is a great book for young girls to read. By young girls reading this they will begin to know what the real life of a teenaged girl is and they should live life the fullest and not want to grow up so fast.

The novel “Invisible” by Pete Hautman, is about a highschool boy named Doug Hanson who is a nobody. The only thing he has is his model railroad and his best friend Andy Morrow. Andy is a very popular football player. Dough and Andy talk about everything. They even do things together most of the time. Doug always gets into trouble at school for the dumbest things. This includes looking at a girl named Melissa Haverman. Since doing this, Doug gets beat up by a couple of football players for doing so. Then he starts a rampage.

One aspect that is appealing in this book, is when Doug is out by Melissa Havermans house, and gets caught by her dad. This is appealing because it was interesting to see that he was able to get out of it by lying. Doug is a very good lier because he is a very serious person. When the police question Doug about being behind his house, he was able to keep a straight face and lie right to everyones face. Mr. Haverman was very angry when the police man decided that he was being serious.

In the book Wicked by Sara Shepard, the four girls, Spencer, Aria, Hanna, and Emily are all faced with one problem, who killed there best friend Ali? The killing happened when they were in seventh grade and now they are in high school, but they never found out who killed her until now. Each of the girls has been put in a situation that they never asked for. They get texts from A, but A is unknown. He or she knows everything about the girls, and has attempted to try and kill one of them. They believe that Ian, Ali’s old crush is the killer, and maybe he is also the one sending the girls the creepy text messages. But sadly it is never proven if he is the killer or not.

This book is very interesting because it is all a mystery. There is always two girls liking the same boy, and the family that gets divorced because of cheating, but on top of all that the girls best friend was killed, and they are being stalked. The girls try to live normal lives, but the creepy text messages are shown to the police. Now that all the families no, and the police are involved the book is even more appealing, why would someone be stalking these girls, what did they ever do? Will they ever find out who was the killer? Read the book to find out!

Shadow Divers, by Robert Kurson, is about many different people diving the sea for artifacts and uncovering the mysteries of different wrecks. Though the book could be boring at times, such as in explaining what different things were, where it lacked in a quickness it made up for in suspense. The books vast explanation of treacherous journeys and different causes of death in the book “left me gasping for breath”.

Bill Nagle, one of the main characters of the book, and also a past diver, runs a boat called the Seeker for diving charters and makes a wonderful discovery that could change diving forever.

Although at times the book was a bit confusing the main plot of it was addicting and I would recommend it to people who like a suspenseful book.

Since the band members of Mad Skillz all go away to college, he decides to take part in Nick’s band. After being in the band for awhile, Pete finds himself to be more outgoing, attractive, and more sensitive. One part of the story that caught my attention was when Pete and Margaret started get more involved in their relationship. I found this interesting because I didn’t think that Pete would go that far. This is an easy to read book and is very interesting if you are in a band, or like to listen to music. I would rate this book a 9 out of 10 because how the story is written.
