In the book “Jason and Marceline” by Jerry Spinelli, it is about two friends (Jason and Marceline) that have been friends since the end of seventh grade. Now Marceline and Jason are in 9th grade and Jason is thinking about making his friendship with Marceline more than just a friendship but a relationship. Marceline is starting to think so to. Jason talks to his friend Peter about asking Marceline out and peter thinks he should. But others think it is weird since Marceline plays the trombone and is in band, while Jason is a jock and plays baseball and was on the wrestling team. But Jason thinks other wise, he likes Marceline for who she is not for what she does so he asks her out anyway. So days go by and everything is going great. They play scrabble every night because that is their favorite game. Two weeks go passed and the more they are together the more they get annoyed by each other and the more they fight. But does the beginning of romance mean the end of their friendship?

I recommend this book to mature children or teenagers because they talk about sexual things those younger kids would not understand. I would also recommend this book for people who like to read about drama in high school. This book is great for an 8th grader to read because it basically talks about what high school is about in some good ways and bad ways but in reading this book it will teach the kids not to do the bad things that it teaches you but also do they good things and have fun.

These 4 four girls hung out every summer…until this summer. Carmen, Bridget, and Lena would be going on vacation to visit family or go to camp somewhere this summer while Tibby would be staying home. Before everyone left, the girls found a pair of jeans that happened to fit all four of them, no matter what size jeans they wore. The girls took that as a sign that meant that they needed to communicate with each other all summer in some way. Everyone decided that each one of them would wear the pants for at least two weeks, then pass on the pants to the next person the their list. The girls also set some rules on what to do, and what not to do while wearing these magical pants. So…will the girls follow the rules? Will someone hog the pants all summer? And what is Tibby going to do since she is staying home all summer? You will find answers to all of these questions when you read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

I would recommend this book to mostly girls, who like to read about friendship, trust and love. That’s mainly what this book is about. There are a lot of adventures in this book also, even for Tibby, who is staying home all summer…so if you want a nice, interesting, and fun book…check out The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
