Lockowitz period 8

Freedom is redeeming. That’s how Anooshka Stargirl feels every time she listens to Orpheus’ music. Free. She never expects to be completely submerged into the wonderful mind and life of the famous singer Orpheus. It all starts out as a simple weekend listening to music at the beach with her sister Moon, but as soon as she hears the first note of an Orpheus song, she feels like they’re living within the same frequency. All it takes is her first meeting with him: seeing his scruffy black hair peering out of a baseball cap and the husky blue eyes. It’s from that point on that Anooshka is now checking Orpheus’ blogs and only listening to his music…nothing else. Anooshka has become utterly obsessed.

Lockowitz-per: 3

The book “Glass” by Ellen Hopkins is about a girl named Kristina Georgia Snow. She is eighteen years old and is addicted to the drug Crank and the drug called Glass. She has a son named Hunter and fights her addiction so she can make the best life she can for baby Hunter. In the book she fall in love with a boy named Trey. Trey has the same addiction she has. Except he gets her addicted to glass as well. Read the book to find out what becomes of her addiction and her relationship with friends, family, and Trey.

I feel this book is appealing because its informs people about drug addictions and how life threatening they can be. It also makes people grateful for what they have in there life. I think this book would encourage young teens to say no to drugs. And encourages parents to talk to there kids about what the outcome is if you do in fact get addicted to drugs. Its relatable if you are in the same position as Kristina and Trey.

The Beatles started a revolution, and changed everyone’s perspective on the world. Paul McCartney wrote a book stuffed with motivating poems and songs. He really knew how to make people think, he made you want to get up and change someone or something. Yeah, some people say that poetry is boring. But Paul’s work is done so well, that it’s hardly even poetry. It’s so much more than that. He didn’t just throw a bunch of rhyming words on a piece of paper and call it art, he sat down and took a look at the world and wrote his innermost thoughts and secrets. Before I opened up “Blackbird Singing”, I just thought it was another book of poetry that wouldn’t matter much in my life. I was very, very wrong. It’s changed me my thoughts and my feelings. His poetry brought me up when I was down, Paul McCartney always has been able “to take a sad song and make it better.” So, get up, get out, and make a difference.
