In the novel “Beastly” by Alex Flinn, the main characters are Kyle Kingsbury aka Adrian who is a round character because at the beginning of the novel he was a self-centered, arrogant, jerk that only cared about his looks and made fun of others if they were not “perfect”. But thoughtout the novel this life changes ultimately in one night and he leans that looks aren’t mostly important, that if you have personality and are nice people will see pass it and really see the beauty within you; that’s what really matters. The other main character is Lindy Owens who really is flat because she really doesn’t change because all ready she good at heart and can see past the looks.

The main conflict in the novel is that Kyle Kingsbury is morphed into a creature-like a wookie in star wars by a witch named Kendra and the only way to beak the spell is for Kyle to kiss a girl who he loves and she loves him9only true love can break the spell). The conflict is solved when when Lindy is in trouble and Adrian (changed his name when he become creature) who sees her though magic mirror goes to save her but ends up getting shot. Lindy kisses him as his last wish and he transforms but to human-Kyle is back. She and him finally end up together after all that and he and her live happily ever after.

The purpose of this book is that beautiful things in the world aren’t always “perfect”, sometimes some things like a white rose is beautiful. Those who do not know to see precious things in life will never be happy. This book is like Beauty and the Beast!!

One aspect that caught my attention is that in the book even though Kyle is “ugly” a girl can still fall for him because in this century i haven’t seem that happen yet but I’m hoping that it will one of this day.I seriously think that people should care about the inside not the outside-keep hoping for this to happen.

Their names are Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, Angel, Fang, and Max. Max is a round character because at the beginning of the book she doesn’t depend on anyone, but throughout the book she learns how to use all of her flock’s special abilities to their fullest. Each one of them has wings and increased strength, speed, endurance, and appetite. They have just escaped a laboratory in New York and are flying to Washington D.C. On their way, they encounter a new type of eraser. As they fight in the air against the erasers, Fang gets slashed across the stomach by their worst enemy, Air, whom they all thought Max had killed. After Fang gets hurt in the fight, the group goes to the hospital. While there, the FBI finds out about them and they have to live with an agent. Going to school is again forced on them. That’s where things start to get weird.

For example when the real max is fighting the fake Max you don’t know who is going to win because they are exactly the same. But in the end the author always made so it was a happy ending. And the author does this over and over in the book. He still mess’s with you by changing when something good will happen though.

He becomes a carrier and is recruited by an underground (literally!) organization to capture vampires so that they can be treated. A lot of traditional vampire lore (aversion to light and religious stuff, super strength and speed) is in the book as well as a lot of the biology of parasites in general. If you like science stuff in your fiction, you’ll really enjoy this book, and the twist on at the end of the book was great. An Abe Lincoln award nominee, read 3 more and vote this month!!

Argentar period 5

The book is about a boy who was adopted when he was young but then was later kicked out of his foster parents home because of his epilepsy. His foster father considered him to big as a threat to his younger sister when he got seizure. A few years after he is living in his box which is fairly common for people who are not geneticly improoved and a messanger comes by and tell him that his little sister is sick. Spaz then goes and seeks permission from his latch box to leave his latch and he says no and almost gets killed by his latch box just for asking. He goes anyways and he has to make it through crazed monkey, looney robots, and deadly biker gangs. Read the book to see if he makes it and if his sister makes it.

Lockowitz-Per 3

I read the book, New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer. Bella is 18 now, and her vampire love-Edward Cullen- along with his family decides to leave her in the town of Forks, Washington, because he believes that being with him is too dangerous for Bella. This incident causes her to become speechless and petrified. Her loved ones are really worried about her, and she knows that now she has to stop being isolated, and move on. One day, she visits Jacob Black, an old friend; they end up forming a good amity, and they become best friends. But later, Bella finds out a huge secret about Jacob-he is a werewolf. This somehow drifts Jacob and Bella apart, and Bella starts taking stupid actions. These action lead her to hurting someone that she loves very much…

The one main specific aspect of this book that I like most is the way Stephenie Meyer portrays the traits of the different characters by their language and dialogue. For example, for the main character, Bella, she uses vocabulary that makes her sound curious, analyzing, and intelligent. For Edward, she uses a sophistic style by enhancing the diction and word choice of his words. Lastly, for Jacob, she uses dialogue for him that has a slight mocking, sarcastic tone, showing his personality. Word choice makes a huge difference on how you view someone.

Mr. Lockowitz-Period 3

New Moonis a story about 18 -year-old Bella Swan. When her vampire love, Edward Cullen, (along with his family) leaves Bella in Forks, Washington, because he believes he has put her in so much danger, she becomes petrified and speechless. Her loved ones worry for her day and night, until she finally realizes that she needs to move on. So, she takes a step forward, and reaches out to Jacob Black, who she winds up having a great amity with. But later, she finds out a huge secret about him-Jacob is a werewolf. This splits them apart suddenly, and Bella takes stupid actions that wind up hurting who she loves.

The one main specific aspect of this book that appeals to me most is how the author, Stephenie Meyer, shows the difference between all the characters’ personalities by their dialogue. For example, the main character, Bella, is very intelligent, and you can observe that by the way that she speaks. Edward’s talking is a bit more sophisticated, because of his diction or word choice. Jacob on the other hand uses very simple words, and speaks in mocking and sarcastic tones, which shows that he is very opinionated. This way helps us distinguish the different traits of the main characters.

Colan- Period 1

What if you were different then everyone else? What if you were different as if you were not human at all but you look human, you talk human, and you act human. What if you were a clone and everyone treated you like an animal or a disturbing creature?

House of the Scorpion is about a boy named Matt who looks human, talks human, and acts human (most of the time) but is a clone of an old man named El Patron who is the leader of the country Opium. No one likes Matt because they think that since he’s a clone, he is a wild animal or something. This story takes place in the future and in this future there are cloning but it’s illegal to have clones live past a month old, so Matt is illegal, but El Patron is powerful enough to break the law. Matt has a guardian named Celia who Matt thinks is his mother. It turns out that the only reason El Patron wanted Matt to live to an older age is because he just wanted to use Matt for organ transplants, so Celia, Matt’s friend Maria, and Matt’s body guard (who El Patron assigned to Matt) are the only ones who can save Matt.

What I liked about this book is what goes through Matt’s mind about how he’s a clone and how he is different then everyone else. It expresses his emotions and struggles of being different and how he escapes it.
